April 02, 2006 By: Rumilio Morales Spanish Recipes To Enjoy Start HereFirst, many people believe that Spanish foods include a lot of hot peppers. In fact, they don’t have to. Many of the ones that do have hot peppers are newer versions of old dishes. Let’s explain like this. Many of the foods that you think are hot, have Chile peppers in them. But, Chile pepper did not naturally occur in this area. In about 1493, when Columbus was returning from his voyage to the Americas, he brought with him the Chile pepper. It was later introduced to the people of Spain and they loved it and began using it in their seasoning mix. Until this time, though, they were not in the foods. Regardless, you can find Spanish dishes with or without a hot pepper. If you are a heat lover, look for those. If not, then look for the ones that do not have them in it. Instead, they will be full of vegetables and rich foods. You will love the flavor in any of these and you will have an easy time incorporating them within your standard menu.
